Laura is now officially blogging. I got an email two days ago that said (among other things):

I am readay to blog. Yes I am. See, I wrote it. It must be true. I will blog. Bloggety, bloggety, blog.

Now what you need to understand is this: when I first met Laura we were in second year university. She refused to wear a watch and refused to sign up for an email account.

Our research project supervisor, MSVD, was able to convince Laura to get email. (We may have actually used threats, and beat Laura with a stick, but I can't quite remember.) And it's all been downhill from there. Mind you, it's a very, very long hill, but it's still pointing downwards. First it was email, then it was the digital sports watch that Laura adopted from the lost and found one summer and finally eight years later she's blogging and defragging harddrives.

For the uninitiated, backdirt is the pile of dirt that accumulates behind you while digging at an archaeological site. Be sure to check out Laura's Research projects for information about the Western Alaska Peninsula and Kotzebue Sound.
