Fabric shopping
Another disappointing day in the land of Grey County fabric shopping. Yes, I picked up some lovely cotton from a quilting shop up in Wiarton for a couple of new tops (it turns out this place is a local mecca for flannel fabric, perfect for PJs). I even braved the fabric section of Wal*mart (it seems as they they might actually be the only place within a 50 minute drive of my house that stocks patterns--I stocked up on New Look, Simplicity and McCalls so that I can hopefully avoid going back for a long time). But I came away from both feeling uninspired by the fabric that's available. I'm into stretchy and comfy right now. I love working with quilting cotton for my dress shirts, but it's not stretchy and therefore is only truly comfy when it's oversized. I hopped on-line and started wandering the 'net aimlessly in search of fabric. And then I remembered something. I have silk screens and ink upstairs from the time I took a course at Peach Berserk.
/me facepalms herself.
I can make my own fabric designs. There are a few pictures of my silk screen prints up on Flickr. I don't have the time to feel motivated to print fabrics right now, but I do feel a sense of relief in remembering there are alternatives to what's available at the store. Even when it comes to fabric. In fact I'm amost feeling motivated to start sketching new ideas and spending a weekend at Peach Berserk transferring those ideas to screens. Almost, but not quite.
