Home again, home again jiggity jig
I drove home last night through Algonquin Park. As Leslie would say: The Canadia is amazing! I saw four moose including one teenager very close to the side of the road.
Coming back through the park gave me a lovely loop of southern Ontario. It's a drive I'd definitely do again.
Other highlights from the weekend include:
David educating me on the ways of the scrapbooking tote bag (fill it with Scotch)...
Finishing a sock in a weekend (cast on while hangin' with the lovely Sarah and energetic Evan and cast off on Sunday Cora's with Adrian, Randi, Leslie, Dan, and two more that I can't remember the names of)...the yarn itself was purchased Wednesdsay night at Lettuce Knit (Socks That Rock in Farmhouse) and wound up by Yarn Forward in Ottawa...
Leslie's presentation about the Google Summer of Code program...
Other moments for which there are no photos include:
- losing Beowulf in the parking lot (the panic button works from three floors away);
- getting Randi and Leslie totally hooked on the idea of knitting socks (including letting crocheter Randi fall over in Yarn Forward on some hand dyed Lucy Neatby sock yarn and some hand dyed quilting thread for her mum);
- meeting author Joseph Kong and getting him totally excited about sock construction (Joseph is also a math geek);
- deep fried pickles (new to me) and deep fried zucchini (new to them);
- Zak's for breakfast on the recommendation of the tattoo parlour across from Les Suites (always ask the tattoo parlour for food recommendations when visiting a new town);
- watching Leslie freak out about people using public transportation (she scared the construction workers with her outburst of excitment--white people doing construction work elicited an almost equivalent squeak of excitement);
- HP Sauce;
- introducing the 'murkins to Tim Horton's (and specifically the chillers);
- the "did you arrive home safely" check in from Dan.
Next up on the list of adventures: meetings this week and then Drupal Camp Toronto on the weekend. It looks like I'll be doing both of my proposed sessions. There are still a very few spots left. Sign up now if you haven't already!
