Soon we'll be dancin' on the ceiling

Mum came by today and we repaired the holes in my ceiling from when it was leaking (before the roof was repaired). It appears as though I have very carefully avoided taking pictures of the ceiling at its worst (there's one shot with buckets, but it got much, much worse than this).

The patched section above the window is about four feet square. The bit in the corner is mostly just paint issues. The hole itself is about 3 inches square.

By the time I remembered to pull out my camera we'd pulled down all the rotten drywall, put up new plastic over the big hole (I'd had to puncture the vapour barrier to let the water drain through) and added one piece of drywall to the ceiling.

It turns out screwing drywall into the ceiling is a whole lot of shoulder ache:

 Screwing the drywall in place

Mudding is a little better, but not by much:

Thanks to mum for hanging out and helping out and taking pictures. I've used up the last of my drywall mud, so it may be a little while before I feel inspired to go and buy more, but in the mean time I can enjoy looking at my patches instead of gaping holes.

(Apologies to Lionel Ritchie. This post ought to belong to you.)

"In the mean time I can enjoy looking at my patches instead of gaping holes." I think you've found the basis of your self-help book.
