Taking the fear out of building a Web site

I've been building Web sites for almost as long as there's been a Web to build them on (I built my first web page 1996). I've been teaching Web technologies for a little over eight years. My favourite kind of Web site is one that takes care of itself because the site owner is excited and motivated and trained to update their own content! This fall I'm offering two unique courses for people who want to get started on creating and maintaining their very own Web site:

DIY: Web site building
In this awesome five-week "no code" course you will point and click your way to a brand new Web site. All participants will get their very own Web site to play with and break (it's ok, we'll help you fix it!). At the end of the course you'll be able to download all the files to your own server, or keep HICK Tech as your hosting provider.
Dates: Mondays at 4PM EST on October 19, 26, November 2, 9, 16
Delivery: Teleclass (that's right, a PHONE!, no fancy computer stuff required)
Extras: your own "tester" Web site, PDF hand outs, audio recordings of all phone sessions

DIY: Ecommerce
In this five-week course you'll learn how to build your very own ecommerce shop with NO CODING. Fire your web developer and take charge! This course is perfect for small businesses (including artists!) who want to take advantage of the global market to sell their products.
Dates: Thursdays at 4PM EST on October 1, 8, 15, 22, 29
Delivery: Teleclass (that's right, a PHONE!, no fancy computer stuff required)
Extras: your own "tester" Web site, PDF hand outs, audio recordings of all phone sessions

I'm really excited about these classes. I can't find another program quite like it. For most of the online courses I've found you have to have a fast Internect connection, special software installed or you don't get to keep the Web site you built at the end of the class.

If you've been thinking about building your own Web site, but you're a little bit nervous about it, this is the perfect class for you! I promise not to go too quickly and that you'll get the resources you need to continue maintaining your site even after the class has finished. If you've been meaning to make a Web site but always seem a little too busy, this is also the perfect class for you! I'll help find the time over the five week class to get your Web site built and launched. So what are you waiting for? Go register now for the DIY: Ecommerce class (registration closes September 28) DIY: Web site building class (registration closes October 14). Space is limited in both classes. Register now to avoid disappointment.
